Oh, my.

I am about to open a can of worms with a bunch of rabbinic scholars.

Because the Tora prohibits humans from tattooing their body, from putting a brand anywhere on their person.  (The only exception is when a bondsman or bondswoman refuses to leave one’s employ after the debt is paid.  Then, they get their ears pierced.  [Yes, this does mean Orthodox women use clip-ons—no pierced earrings for them].)

We spoke on Friday about microbes that hide themselves in our body.  Waiting for the right opportunity to infect our body with diseases- coronary disease, type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s, renal failure, macular degeneration, even some cancers.

Bug invasions

Every once in a while, I realize that the path I chose for my life has been pretty fortuitous.  Sure, I had two failed marriages (one clearly my fault; the other clearly not)- but I was awarded three fantabulous children as a result, so- on balance- I still consider them fortuitous.

Personalized Eating Regimen?

What determines if we are skinny as a rail or as wide as a hula hoop?

Sure, if my daily diet includes ice cream, donuts, three bagels, 2 liters of pop, two bottles of wine- then I will approach hula hoop status- unless I ride my bike for 50 miles a day or swim 15 miles routinely.

Sleep Deprivation

New research about sleep is not going to make a lot of people happy.

You already know that most of us (thankfully, not me) need about 7 hours of zzz’s a night to stay healthy.  Those of us who don’t get the right amount of sleep are often at risk for weight gain.  Or, worse yet, developing diabetes.
