Ah, yes, the Wall Street Journal editorial pages. Sometimes, I wonder if they are trying to outfox Fox in their outlandish pronouncements. (You do know these two media giants are owned by the same folks, right? Rupert Murdoch et. al.)

Henry Aaron
Way back when I was a kid, I knew the names of a bunch of great baseball players, in every single team. As I grew older, I really only cared about the folks on my chosen team, the Phillies. So, nowadays, I recognize the names of less than 50 players.
Are You a Criminal?
Remember that promise we were given? If we listed our phone numbers with the Federal Trade Commission, we’d forever be freed from nuisance phone calls? Yeah, I bought that bridge, too.
Repercussions
I waited a respectable amount of time.
It seems that the 147 Congressfolks and the 8 Senators who felt compelled to repeat the lies of TheDonald may have skirted the proper Capitol response. (That response is to refuse to seat these folks for their actions.) But, that doesn’t mean they are skating free of repercussions.
Where did Dr. Welby go?
Are you a fan of “The Resident”? This is the Fox TV show (acquired from Showtime in 2018), starring Matt Czurchy, Emily VanCamp, and Bruce Greenwood.
You’re kidding me, right?
We are excited. There are two vaccines being distributed- albeit in very spotty fashion. At least one more (the Johnson & Johnson version) is about to be submitted for FDA approval- to be followed shortly thereafter by the Oxford/Astra-Zeneca choice. Hopefully, by the end of this year, the pandemic will be over.
Donate a kidney?
You know I talk about dialysis a lot. And, advocate that stem cell research should be allowed.
Not only could we provide an unlimited set of kidneys for transplant, but hearts, lungs, and a slew of other organs. But, stem cell research is disallowed due to politics (read: religious group lobbying).
3 a second!
Well, what a surprise- NOT!
I’ve been writing about conditions in meat/chicken processing facilities for a while. Both beef and poultry processors have been finagling less oversight from the Department of Agriculture for a while. (Here’s a 2013 post about how conditions have been “improved”. That’s for the plant owners, not the workers or the product purchasers.)
Oh, really?
So, yesterday, we went a little gauzy… We waxed poetic about the celebration of Martin Luther King Day, like we’ve solved the problems that Dr. King wanted us to address each and every day. (His two issues – which are still, to more than some degree, intertwined- were racism and poverty. Both of which are blights on the American (and the world’s) ideal.)
Chaos or Community?
It’s not quite the right day- but, in America, we seem to opt for Monday holidays. So, today, not the 15th, we are honoring Dr. Martin Luther King. It is interesting to note that his last book turns out to be a most timely concept for discussion today.
