I haven’t written about home schooling in a decade. Back then, home schooling was the province of WrongWingChristians, who wanted to teach their children without state interference. Virginia was one of the places where such activities were given a wide berth.

30 years ago, autoworkers were the highest paid folks among the rank-and file. If we used constant dollars their income today would be $ 43 an hour. Except their income is now only $ 32 an hour. That is about 30% below their peak income of 2003.

The IRS now plans- in 2024, to offer a “Direct File” program that really is a direct file. With a test base of 13 states, the IRS will invite taxpayers to file their taxes using software provided by the IRS. The software will be in English and Spanish, working on computers and mobile phones.
