Tonight begins the holiday of Sukot (the Festival of Booths). It is a 7 day holiday, immediately followed by yet another holiday, Shmini Atzeret (the Eighth Day of Assembly). Some folks are confused and think all 8 days constitute Sukot- but they are wrong.

LIght ’em up!
I’ve spoken about bacteriophages before. These are viruses that attack bacteria and not animal cells. A team has found a way to modify the genome of bacteriophages (again, viruses that attack bacteria), which makes potentially dangerous microbes in food and water glow so they are easier to detect. (Recognize that bacteriophage, like viruses that attack human cells, inject their genome into the bacterial target. The cell then produces viral particles until it lacks energy reserves and dies.}
Improving NK cell viability
We spoke before about NK (natural killer) cells. In that context, they were being used for solid tumor cancer treatment. New research now find they also have utility against leukemia and lymphoma.
Autumn Chores
It is Autumn already. And, that means it is respiratory virus season.
Yom Kipur- The Day of Atonement
The 10th Day of Tishrei. That’s tonight’s (and tomorrow’s) Hebrew Date, which means it will be Yom Kipur. (The Tora [the bible] says – it was evening, it was morning; one day. All days start when the sun goes down.) This day marks the end of 40 days of introspection, repentance, and preparing ourselves to be better humans and to make the world a better place- with renewed vigor.
Gaining Financial Knowledge for Small Business Success

Electro Acoustic Hydraulic Therapy (eHAT)
I was reading this information about a development in Israel and felt a twinge.
You see, I have been working on a “something” to preclude folks decaying conditions that would require the onset of dialysis. (Do you realize that chronic kidney disease [CKD] affects some10% of the world’s population?) I say “something” because it is not clear if or how my concept can obtain FDA approval. It’s a pretty simple chemical concoction. If we make it a food, then the poor folks (which comprise most of the folks who will need this) won’t be able to afford it, since medical foods are not covered by most health care programs.
Sacre Bleu!
First, I should explain that I am constantly seeking out wine bargains. Because I enjoy a good glass (or bottle) of wine routinely.
Blood Test Screening
Many of the diseases that attack our bodies lack viable, objective biomarkers. That means there are delays in diagnosing them in patients. Which clearly means the chances of succumbing to these diseases are clearly a risk.
A fungus among us?
Well, the title seems appropriate. Because of this new development with fungi. It seems that we can convert fungi into thin sheets- I know that’s not a big deal. But, this is- those sheets are fire resistant, which would make them perfect for use in building structures.
