Back when I was planning my life (OK. I’m still planning my life- it’s just more done than years past), I wondered when I was done getting my PhD in Chemical Engineering, what other degrees I should seek One of the possibilities was getting an MBA (Masters of Business Administration), if I planned to work in industry and not be a professor for the rest of my life. (Since I planned to invent two new products a year, it wasn’t clear that a professorship would mesh well with such a lifestyle.)

DC Politics. Not politic.
Ah, DC. The Capital of the United States of America.
Where local rule is a fiction. Because for years it has been a majority minority city. It has always been a reliable Democratic Party bastion. (In the DC-MD-VA region, the only place that provides a more reliable Democratic voting record is Alexandria, where I live.)
Stand Up! Now!

MIT. PhD. M-o-n-e-y. He AIN’T a Chem E!
George Hatsopoulous was never a ChemE- but he did hail from MIT. Where he earned his degrees in mechanical engineering. And, he did start a most interesting company- as a spin-off from MIT- the Thermo Electron Corporation.
MIT. PhD. M-o-n-e-y. 3
He had the second longest name I encountered at MIT. (A fellow grad student has the longest one.) Pierre Leonc Thibaut Brian. He was known as P.L. Thibaut Brian, though.
