You know, almost every Friday night, I have a bunch of friends and acquaintances over to share a meal. Because it is the holiday of Shabat, the day the Supreme Being rested- and that means so do we.

A blessing on your head, mazel tov, mazel tov…
Now, that corporate taxes have all been filed (whaddaya mean you haven’t filed yet?), a great burden has been lifted. Oh, sure, I still have a slew of personal taxes to compute and file for my clients, but about 2/3 of those needs are related to the corporate taxes we already filed. So, the unknowns have been greatly attenuated.

When a home office is not a home office
I’ve had a slew of folks argue with me that their business has no office but the one in their home. If their business is unincorporated (and if your net income is $ 25K or higher- shame on you for being unincorporated) or a disregarded LLC, I agree that they have the ability to claim part of their home’s expenses for business purposes, using Form 8829.
Surveillance Capitalism
Here I am, so smug that I don’t turn on location services on my phone. Thinking, “Ha! You can’t track me.”
What did you do last Saturday?
I admit it. I’m aching. Because two days ago, along with a slew of my fellow shul-mates, I walked from 16th & Jonquil Streets to 4th and Pennsylvania Avenue. I had forgotten that more than 7 mile trek was going to be an uphill climb. (Yes, that made the return trip somewhat less troubling.)

You really want to be taller?
My mom wore 4 inch f..k me heels until the day she entered the hospital, where she died 75 days later.
@#%$ ME!!!!!!!
This is one of those hidden gems. One I missed when I read the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. (Now you know why my monograph on the law hasn’t been published yet. I’m still re-reading the verbiage to see if there are other “gems” (a.k.a. fecal deposits) hidden between the lines.)
3rd of Nissan
Today, I will talk about a diminutive woman. Only in stature.
My mother’s mother, my grandmother Bessie, has her yahrzeit today. She died on the 3rd day of Nissan. Here’s where it gets tricky. I own a document that indicates Bessie died in 1969. But, the Social Security Administration indicates she died in 1974.
