Last Thursday, 10 February, was the 58th anniversary of the passage of the landmark Civil Rights Bill, an incredible change of rules during this era. You probably don’t know about that anniversary- because there was virtually no mention of this anywhere.

Your New Business Starts with a Plan
Today, you are reading a guest blog written by Nicola Reid.
Caveat Emptor
Helping out a client the other day reminded me of my early years of living in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Is it safe yet?
Is the pandemic waxing or waning? Can we relax the restrictions by which we live our lives? (That means not just those imposed upon us by our governments, but the ones we employ just to keep ourselves safe.) And, by now, I’m sure you’ve heard that NY, NJ, CA, and OR are relaxing their mask mandates.
Waning? Waxing?
An early warning system.
First, I’ll describe it. Then, I’ll tell you why this adds fuel to my admonitions that many in power love to disregard.
Ticked Off
It was about 20 years ago. We had a terrible scare.
My son (the youngest of the bunch) was “mustering” for his Civil War platoon. The kids, ranging in age from 8 to 10, were learning about Alexandria’s (VA) activities in the war. (You should know that it was a Federal bastion, with a slew of forts around the periphery to protect against Confederate encroachment. And, you do recall that the District of Columbia originally was comprised of 5 square miles separated from Maryland and 5 square miles from Virginia; this town was at one time known as Alexandria, DC.)
Found ya, didn’t I?
I admit this new invention may interest me way more than you.
After all, once I developed Klebsiella of the calf, and it transmogrified into necrotizing fasciitis, infectious wounds became more than an academic interest to me.
Wine Whining
Is must be time to review the data.
For years, we’ve been told and taught that moderate drinking is good for us. Of course, the question is- what is moderate? Is it one or two drinks of alcohol a day? Is five drinks once a week moderate?
Another mRNA delivery vehicle
Having been subjected to needles routinely from the time I was a tyke, I developed a pathological hatred to being injected. After all, it would not be atypical for me to have been subjected to 150 injections in any given year, until I turned 12.
PASC
Is there a way to predict which unlucky soul(s) will develop long-term covid? It’s bad enough if one contracts the disease, but to have it linger and maintain symptoms for what seems to be forever is simply terrible.
