Wow.  A Nobel Prize!

I am pretty sure I told you that I had hoped to win one of those when I was a tyke.  Until I found out that engineers aren’t the ones who get them.  These awards are for the “pure” sciences, not for the folks that convert those cold hard facts into useful items.  Enough grousing.Non-A, Non-B Hepatitis

Where do you stand on this change?

It’s been 8 years since I wrote about this topic.  And, no, it’s not because my son (the youngest of all my children) has long been out of school.  But, it’s because since the last (imho) screwup of this elite school, not many additional (bad) choices have been made.

An ever-changing series of rules

We have prepared scores of forgiveness applications for our clients.

“What?”,  you ask?

Remember way back in April our government worked together (now that’s not a phrase we’ve often heard over the past four years) to pass a slew of laws that would help get America back on its feet after having been decked by the coronavirus pandemic. (Since then, the House has passed several extensions and improvements; the Senate under McConnell’s leadership (sic) has practiced being an ostrich; while TheDonald and his minions have flip-flopped routinely between wanting a bill or wanting to wait until after the election.)

Tonight begins a most unusual holiday.  More importantly, from a practical point of view, this holiday is the last one that will preclude me from work for a while- all the way until late March of the coming year!  (Now, this is really good news.  Because, I can finally make some money!) The Tora gives us very little clue about this holiday or its requirements.  It’s simply called the Eighth Day of Assembly (Shmini Atzeret).

Really? You are still doing your taxes?

No Gravatar

If you are still putzing around with your taxes, it’s probably because you don’t have the funds to pay your obligation- and you’re stretching your imagination to come up with deductions.  Sorry-you don’t have a TV show, so that $ 70K for Self-Styling Adorn to keep your one strand of hair curled about your head is not going to be a viable deduction.

How I came to be sensitive to bias

No Gravatar

I wrote yesterday’s blog- and the one that should have appeared today a while ago (which will appear tomorrow).  But, I realized I need to explain to you how I came to be sensitive to bias.  So, I am interrupting the flow to insert an article I was asked to write by Janine Ripper almost a decade ago, for a series that she shared on her (then) blog- The Beauty of Difference.
