Steppin’ on Up

I had plenty of time to read over the 4th of July weekend.  Given the fact that there were no (safe) barbeques, no reason to violate my health by seeking out firework displays, or the like.

I did get to do something I hadn’t had the ability to do for four months. I prayed with a few of my fellow congregants.  As we begin to re-open our shul for prayer and study- having been shuttered since the week before Purim.  (In case you don’t recognize the reference, that was the first week of March.)   If you are interested, write to me and I will pass along the thoughts that I shared with my children and friends about the experience.

But, this post is about a challenge issued by one of the tech rags I read.  (I read plenty of technical journals.  Then there’s the technical rags- the magazines that are a little more popular than technical or medical.)

Pharmaceutical Executve

This one is Pharmaceutical Executive.  And, while it said it was the June issue, it arrived in my mailbox last Friday.

And, this editorial hit home.

Biotech Execs- It's Time to Step Up

It’s been exactly how I’ve felt forever.

I’ve been bringing the real facts to you.  In this case about COVID-19 and SARS-CoV-2.  (But, in general, everything from the economy, the failure of the American Dream, dialysis, taxes, and growing a business.)

I told you that the Midwest and South were going to be a real COVID-19 problem- months and months ago.  How I feared their poor response would simply cause the second wave to hit those of us who worked hard to flatten the curve. And, that there will be at least one or two more waves in the various zones of America.

Pandemic follow-up

Not the cascade ride we want

How TheDonald and his ilk shirk their responsibilities by not providing the guidance America needs to be safe and not succumb to COVID-19, by failing to provide consistent available testing.  (I’m thrilled that, while it took an utter disaster, Governor Abbott of Texas finally realized it was his job to save Texans.)

And, as Barbara Ryan (in the article above) asked, I’m going to continue stepping up.  As a matter of fact, I will have a Zoom session on the 14th of July at 7:30 PM.  To answer your questions.  Because we can only beat this pandemic if we act responsibly, with the best facts at our disposal.

If you want to participate in this Zoom session, sign up. I look forward to a lively session on the 14th.

  1. This thing is a nightmare .Except for Taiwan no other country seems to have a handle on this epidemiologically. Is your Zoom session USA specific ?Wasn’t sure.Do let me know.

  2. I’m in the south and our cases in South Carolina have gone wild. Kids came down for senior week from West Virginia and Ohio only to not practice social distancing and got the virus from here or so they said. How do we know if it started here or they brought it with them from a stop along the way. Looking forward to your Zoom session.
