It was 47 years ago yesterday- that I left Ann Arbor with some 40+ inches of snow on the ground. Leaving my Mustang behind, it having been stolen twice before while I resided in greater Boston. Taking my “relatively” brand new Dodge Dart on a 1000 mile trek to Charlottesvillle, VA, departing at 9 AM.

He would have been 94 yesterday. But, because the Feds consider holidays should occur on a work day, we are honoring Martin Luther King today. Of course, MLK was murdered decades ago- which is one reason why he is not alive today.

2 years later…
I know we all want to believe that the events of 6 January 2021 were an unprecedented assault on the American Democracy. Except, that is what the American Civil War was. But, this still was the second instance, perhaps as grave a breach as the Civil War- graver still.

22 November 1963
It was 60 years ago yesterday. That year, it was really Erev Shabat (Friday) and the week before Thanksgiving. It would be 3 weeks until Chanuka. (And as you know, today is the day after the 22nd and it is American Thanksgiving.)
Eclipse
I have always been enamored by eclipses- lunar and solar, as well as by meteor showers. When my kids were little, we would all go to sleep a little early, waking up around midnight so we could take a drive to a (relatively) unpopulated area. Then, we’d put some blankets on top of the car, and sprawl out to view the show.
Music of my past
Back when I was a tyke, I loved to watch the old movies. And, thankfully, living in New York, there were a plethora of stations. Some dedicated their programs to sitcoms, others to quiz/gift shows, some to local spots, and some to movies.

Yes, I know, we are not voting for President this year. But, we are voting for every Congressperson- and a slew of Senators. Not to mention a bunch of state officials.
