WFH option is needed for new hires

The world has changed.  Those firms (ranging from Amazon to Chase Bank- anď in-between) that are demanding staff work in their offices 5 day a week are having a very difficult time hiring folks.  The labor market is now in the employee’s favor- with unemployment rates as low as 3.5%!

Particulate Problems

Here’s some food for thought.

We have managed to improve the technology in our cars, so that tailpipe emissions are now considered to be minor.  (Note:  That is not true for the emissions from big rigs, those tractor trailers that haul our freight around the country.   They still produce volumes of pollutants- hence the push for the electrification of their engines- or to convert them to use hydrogen fuel cells.)

Will Electric Trucks Really Work Here?

I have mentioned (more than once, of course)  that the regulatory authorities have been seeking new trucks for the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.  In particular, they have been leaning towards electric duty trucks.  (The new trucks are required to run on electric batteries or hydrogen fuel cells.)

Heat Pumps

My buddy always laments that his heat pump doesn’t work well when the outside temperature is running cold.  That’s because he has what can be called an ancient device (more than a decade old).  There have been major improvements in the devices, which is why the recent tax law changes all provided tax credits to install heat pumps.   Because now they work over a wide range of temperatures.
