WFH option is needed for new hires

The world has changed.  Those firms (ranging from Amazon to Chase Bank- anď in-between) that are demanding staff work in their offices 5 day a week are having a very difficult time hiring folks.  The labor market is now in the employee’s favor- with unemployment rates as low as 3.5%!

Nope, nowadays, potential employees are seeking at least one day of remote work a week. (According to Scoop Technologies, an agency that tracks the workplace, and People Data Labs, a data technology company, those offering (3600 companies surveyed) at least one day of remote work are hiring new folks at least twice the rate of those that don’t offer any remote work.}

Those firms offering at least one day of remote work augmented their staff by 5%, as compared to those demanding five days in the office, which only grew at 2.6%.  (Employees consider the four day work week equal to an 8% pay increase.)  Moreover, wages have grown by at least 4.4% since last July.

New hires demand WFH options

Moreover, Monday is no longer the go-to day for today’s hybrid workspace.  It turns out that Tuesday is the go to day.  That’s right- some 25% of all employees- and managers- are working from home (or barely working) on Mondays.

But, at a time when employees still have leverage due to a tight labor market, a new survey by B2B Reviews found many employees are currently mailing it in on Mondays.  Wednesday is the second most popular day to be in the office.

A great number of  employees find that Monday is the perfect day for them to complete solo work projects.  Friday is a close second for that activity.

What does your workplace look like?

  1. That is good to know for when and if I start exploring options for full-time jobs instead of freelancing .. And I can understand why Monday is not the preferred day to go in to a physical office location 🙂
