So, let’s stop the BS.  Let’s think about our history.  Real history-  not the alt-news so many folks seem to adore.

Some 300+ years ago, a vaccine for smallpox was developed.  Since 1796, we’ve been saving 5 million lives a year.  After losing some 300 million folks just in the 20^th century.

Next came a solution for pertussis.  This one has been around since World War I (1914), and since then some 160000 folks stopped dying annually from whooping cough.

It was 7 more years until diphtheria vaccine was available.  Back in the 1920s, some 15000 Americans passed from this disease.  Now?  You don’t see it.

Then, 3 years later came the vaccine for tetanus.  My grandmother actually was able to recover from her bout with lockjaw because of this.  Otherwise she might have been one of the ¾ million folks who succumbed annually.  (Since 1988, the chances of dying from tetanus has decreased by 96%.)

In 1942, the first flu (influenza) vaccine arrived.  Which swiped some 300K to 650K folks a year away from us.  Now, that vaccine reduces our chance of getting the flu by 60%.  (This is a seasonal disease that changes its nature all the time.)

The next one I personally remember.  Dr. Salk created the polio vaccine in 1953- which erased the 50,000 deaths that arose each year from 1910 to the late 1950s.  I remember standing outside, waiting to get onto the Levittown Bookmobile, which had been rejiggered to give all of us kids our polio vaccine.

And, this next vaccine passed me by completely.  Mostly because I already contracted Measles.  So, I didn’t need the vaccine when it became available in 1963.  And, that vaccine has saved about 2.6 million folks from dying every year around the world.

Back then, we listened to reason.  No- we believed in science and came to informed decisions to save our kids from trauma.

Now?  We’ve got folks refusing to take the COVID-19 vaccine because they don’t want to be ordered to do so.

Now, this is not politically correct, but maybe we can elect to NOT treat you when you succumb to the delta variant or one of the other versions of SARS-CoV-2.  Because, we shouldn’t have to marshal all our resources to treat folks who simply refused to protect themselves- but, more importantly, us.  Since by not getting the vaccine, they are letting this virus find new ways to attack us.

Let me clue you in about my favorite baseball team.  They don’t have 85% of their players vaccinated.  That’s why Alec Boem, Aaron Nola (one of the best pitchers in the league), among others were on the disabled list.  Because they proved COVID- positive!  (They had this problem in 2020, too!  What the heck is wrong with these guys?)

And, while I’m at it… How about everyone cutting the crap and just get themselves vaccinated? Or, would you rather die?
