Blogger Recognition Award

I got me an award. Thanks to Vidya Tiru. Obviously, she needed someone to fill up the dance card :-).

So, this award stipulates the following rules.

Thank the blogger who nominated you
Write a post to show your award
Give a brief story of how your blog started
Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers
Select 15 other bloggers to whom you want to give this award
(FIFTEEN????? You’ve got to be kidding!)
Comment on each blog and let them know you’ve nominated them, and provide a link to the post you’ve created

Now that I see have to find some suckers- oops, lucky recipients of this award- I’m not so sure I should thank Vidya for this ‘honor’. Especially since she awarded some of the same folks as I would. Too bad- they’ll get two awards- one from me and one from her!

How my blog got started

“Geez, Roy. How many articles are you going to send me?”
“Come on, Dr. Ackerman, I don’t have enough time to read all these things. Just give me the highlights.”

Those were the typical comments my friends and clients provided me- daily (if not more frequently). The only thing I could think of doing in response was to create a blog and let them read what they want- when they want.

That was 10 years ago. But, my first two attempts at blogging didn’t meet my expectations. So, they were abandoned. (OK. That’s not quite true. The platform for blogs back then was miserable. And, I was not as diligent as I should have been.)

Which leads to my advice. Determine WHY you want to blog. (Not because Frank or Tom or Melinda says you need to do it for your business. You need to do it because something in your soul- or your business plan- clearly defines your ‘why’.)

And, don’t try to use verbiage that sounds intelligent or vernacular or colloquial. Write the way you think and talk. Let your readers know who you really are. They want authenticity. (Yes, even if you are like me, an intellectual snob.)

OK.  I got that part of the requirements out of the way.  So, here comes the winners!

Alana Mautone. RamblinGarden. Oh, wait- that’s her twitter handle. Ramblin With AM

Doug Jarvie. 2BAccountable. Where Do YOU Want To Go Today?

Megan Jerrard. MappingMegan. Mapping Megan.

Alice Gerard. AlicesBears. Alice’s Grand Adventures.

Kemkem Casinelli. NextBiteOfLife. Next Bite of Life.

Paul Taubman. WPSiteHelp   Digital Maestro.

Martha DeMeo. Martha061 The Martha Review.

Christopher J. Penders CJPPics CJP Photos

Marcia Kester Doyle. MenoMother Menopausal Mom.

If you feel that I left your name off the list, let me know. I have empty slots in this roster.

Roy A. Ackerman, Ph.D., E.A.

And, here’s the pitch…

Buy my book.  You will clearly see how the new tax law affects you and your business. And, you will find a few ways to change 2018 to minimize your tax bite.   The book prices (Kindle or paperback) are no impediment-  just taking the time to learn how to save money on your taxes is all it will really cost you.

  1. You brought a smile to my face. I’m a little surprised you accepted. However honored I am, and I do thank you for thinking of me, I don’t accept these chain le…I mean, blog awards. You did choose some nice blogs though, so I am in good company!

  2. Hello, i read your blog occasionally and i own a similar one and i was just curious if
you get a lot of spam comments? If so how do
you protect against it, any plugin or anything you can suggest?

I get so much lately it’s driving me insane so any help is very much appreciated.
I’ve been surfing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never
found any fascinating article like yours. It is
pretty price sufficient for me. In my opinion, if
all website owners and bloggers made just right content material as you probably did, the net will probably be a lot
more helpful than ever before. Ahaa, its nice dialogue
concerning this piece of writing at this place at this blog, I have read all that,
so now me also commenting at this place.
