Infrastructure. You know- the facilities, the structures, the systems that our country (and cities and counties) need to survive. Our economy can’t function without an infrastructure- whether it’s roads, tunnels, bridges, electric grids, water systems, sewers, telecommunications- or any combination thereof.

Water, part IV
Having worked with water resources and reuse for years, I recall with (feigned) affection some of the terms used. In particular, water resources in the US are measured in acre-feet. Oh, I know, that is the amount of water needed to flood an acre of land with a foot of water.
Business knows we need infrastructure
Just because our government seemingly has no clue that infrastructure is critical, does not mean that business doesn’t. And, they are getting fed up with the inaction. Because, despite the hoopla from the last election, business knows that they don’t do it alone. Their profits rely upon telephones that work, roads that let trucks move, electric power transmission lines that can’t be hacked by terrorists- or just plain crazies.
H2O Woes
What do fracking, copper mining, and concrete manufacture have in common? An insatiable appetite for water.
Will this Pop pop?
I admit it. I used to be a Coke junkie. Oh, that’s not true. I was a Diet Coke junkie. 24 bottles minimum- until they came out with 2 liter bottles , and then it was 3, 4, or 5 of them each and every day of the year. Water, Water, NOWHERE!

(You know- Congress saying the issue is Jobs, Jobs, Jobs- and then vote on Obamacare more than 40 times; clients saying their bottom line is important- but don’t have any key performance indicators that can let them know if they are even making a profit…) Or, the World Economic Forum (Davos, Switzerland, 2013) declaring that water risk is one of the four most important issues affecting businesses for this century.
Water- for our diet and our brains!
You know the rule- drink 8 glasses of water a day. (OK, I admit it- I drink that much fluid- and then some- but NOT pure water, since I need some flavor to handle the volume.)
It’s coming- to a faucet near you. (Hopefully, not too soon!)
Roy A. Ackerman
About every 10 years, this comes up again. But, at least over my lifetime, it never seems to get very far. Water reuse.

Grain alcohol
I’ve blogged about ethanol before (and I’m sure I will again). My last discussion was in response to the movie “Freedom”. (By the way, the filmmakers promised to send a reply and never did.) I believe we need to develop alternative sources for our energy needs- for balance of payments issues, for security issues, and for improving our economy (jobs).
