Martha DeMeo, one of my fellow bloggers, wanted me to explain how my blog disappeared off the internet the other day.

Southwest Part II
I apologize for the disjointedness of this second portion of the blog. I had written the entire piece (both part 1 and 2) a week ago- in one sitting. It was too long for a single blog, so I separated it to two. For those of you who attempted to view my blog yesterday afternoon, there won't be a surprise when I say that it had disappeared. While I was able to recover the rest of the blog posts, this post was created right after the last backup- and was therefore lost. I had to write a new version this morning in a hurry, to re-complete the analysis.
Bomb Cyclone v Southwest
So, let me start this post out by saying that Southwest is not my ‘go-to’ airline. No, it’s not in the doghouse like American (which I will NOT fly).
It’s about time!
First, I must disclose my personal biases.
I have been a (very) frequent flier for nearly 40 years. Long before the airlines had mileage programs (over the years, these loyalty programs have lost their luster, only benefiting the data collection for the airlines), I was a 100,000 mile flier on TWA and Continental. Back when they defined quality airline travel. To this day, I am an elite travel member of the two airlines we will be discussing today. But, that will not influence the facts or my discussion of same.
It’s Time for Regulatory Action
I admit it. I hardly travel nowadays. Oh, don’t get too excited. My comparison is from 20 and 30 years ago, when I commuted from Charlottesville (Virginia) to Long Beach (California) – 3 to 4 times a week. And, I went to Atlanta once every other week. And, New York twice a month. Taiwan once a month. Paris once a month. Milwaukee, Kansas City, Corpus Christi, and Dallas once a week. And, about 5 more trips a quarter.
