I read a post the other day that really bothered me. Really, really bothered me. No, I won’t quote the source here, because that would only embarrass the person who posted it. This person thought she was promoting her husband in her kids’ and grandkids’ eyes by telling them he was “Superman”.

I was perusing the web after I put away all my special dishes and food required for my holiday. (OK, I was vegging out after stuffing and carrying 8 tubs, with an average weight of 25 kilos down 10 steps and through a narrow hallway, leaving them in storage until next year.) Spinal Cord Regrowth May Be Possible- but not tomorrow.
The ability to grow brain and spinal cord nerve cells is present at birth- and starts to disappear just like that as we age. So, when we incur an injury to the spine or the brain- the axons (as discussed earlier) can’t regenerate. It is thought that since these areas are replete with nerves and nerve fibers, they send signals to stop new connections from forming. By stopping new pathways from forming, our brain can’t be confused with by incorrect signals that could result from the new pathways.
