Ready. Fire. Aim.
I met with some new ventures this week. OK. I met with some folks with ideas for new ventures.
One of the first things I reminded them about is that business is operational- not asperational. That means one starts a business- small or large- by making things work. Getting cash flow. Trying business models to see what works.
What a long, strange trip…
We know that patients are eventually going to be the ultimate decision makers for health care. There already are websites that let us rate our physicians. We have been promised information (clear and concise) about the quality of our hospitals.
Say what? IBM is developing antibiotics?
Have you been prescribed antibiotics by your doctor and failed to follow the protocol? Oh, yes, I know, you felt better after a week, so why keep taking the antibiotic? It’s because the bacteria are still in your system, dying off. If you stop the treatment, those microbes can then survive and develop resistance to that antibiotic. After a while, we have created a generation of “superbugs” that are immune to our arsenal of antibacterials. And, that is a real problem.
