I have often written that child care is a neglected need in the USA. And, during the pandemic some 111,000 folks abandoned their child care positions. (That’s about 1/10 of the total industry workforce.) Leaving parents- about 65 million families- who want to be able to work- without any viable child care alternatives.

Universal Child Care
A few weeks ago, I wrote about the child care crisis in America. Working parents have difficult times finding quality day care- at reasonable prices- for their kids. It is not atypical that the costs for child care swallows up the net pay (after taxes) of the lower paid spouse.
Now the biggest cost
Back when I was a tyke (you know, about 400 years ago), this was never a problem. Because back then, most moms stayed home and took care of the kids. I’m not saying this was great or right or wrong. I’m just saying it was.
