Betty Thompson would be pissed. Yes, she would. Because, she knew that the best way to have divorce ‘work’ in America was to make things equitable. She worked hard to change the laws in Virginia.  Instead of basing the split of assets from who had the title (which typically was the male, especially when she began her practice) to “equitable distribution”. Whew.  You’re done.  You managed to file your income taxes yesterday.  (Some of you remember- long ago, when we stopped spending money to build America- that the Post Office stayed open until midnight [or 2AM] to yield that coveted 15 April postmark.  No more…)   And, now you won’t worry about taxes for the next 11 months.

A milestone- I thought.  It was 40 years ago today.  The day for which I had longed, cajoled, suffered injuries, blockaded federal and college buildings.  The ending of the Vietnam “War”.  You know, one of the first wars we fought that were never declared.

Just so you know this is important, I am breaking into my queue to alert you- and everyone you know- about this breaking news. It is yet another means that our society gets corrupted. We- you and me- have to stop this- to protect our youth- and our adults.

Knock, knock….Is anyone listening out there?

There is a growing realization that high growth for many nations is no longer in the cards. Oh, if you live in one of the developing nations of Africa- you can say this is wrong. But, even in China, which is slowly entering that state of economy that includes Israel… While neither which is officially a “First World” nation, they are, for all intents and purposes, there- and their growth rates are so demonstrating. Robust growth- growth over 3-4% over 5 years or more- is something that will only occur in those states that are becoming industrialized, not for those with existing corporate/services infrastructure.

Taxes- 2013 Style!

No Gravatar

Regardless of what happens with the fiscal cliff, there are some pretty major changes to our  tax situation.  Of course, some of them will only affect those at the upper ends of the income scale, but it’s worthwhile to evaluate what your net income will be starting next week- now.
