Way back in the 70s and 80s, when I was heavily involved with fixed media waste treatment systems for water reuse, we had a problem. Many of those facilities had fly infestations. So, we began adding Bacillus thuringiensis (BT) microbes to the mix. These microbes secreted a chemical that took care of the flies. (We actually manufactured the microbial mutants on peanut hulls, which kept the microbes on the surface of the water (peanut hulls tend to float).

And one really does make sense
Pfizer. AstraZeneca. Eli Lilly. Novartis. GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) . And, now Bayer and Merck.
Bayer will be taking over the consumer care (and non-prescription drug) business of Merck. For $ 14.2 billion, Bayer will be come the second largest provider of OTC (over-the-counter) products;’ second mostly because of the merger of Novartis and GSK that we discussed yesterday. And, there’s another part of this deal- Bayer will co-develop a series of cardiovascular therapies (for which Merck will shell out about $ 2 billion).
Is this BRAND really different?
I am sure this will amaze you as much as it did I. Naproxen- the over the counter drug sold by (almost) everybody and their grandmother- is different from different vendors. Besides being sold as generic Naproxen, it is also sold under various “brand” names- Aleve, Naprelan, Naprosyn, Anaprox, Apronax.
