If you are considering the purchase of a property for investment, one you plan to rent to others, we need to talk. Too many folks buy these properties and then find that, unlike conventional businesses, rental property management has its own set of regulations- and tax considerations. (Part of the reason is that real estate businesses, while cash flow positive, often create negative income considerations for taxes, since depreciation can be a substantial factor.  And, as opposed to other businesses that don’t show a profit for 3 of 5 years, these are allowed to continue and are not considered “hobbies”.)

Liebster Award

We were wrong!

I was a man on a mission.  I “learned” early on that, if you wanted to make a name for yourself in science or engineering, you had to get it well on the road by the time you were 30.  It was never clear if the home pressures were the issue or the fact that one would be immersed in an educational environment at those ages that made this possible.   Whatever it was, even Albert Einstein bought into this by proclaiming:  “A person who has not made his great contribution to science before the age of 30 will never do so.”

Superman. Green Lantern. You.

I read a post the other day that really bothered me.  Really, really bothered me.  No, I won’t quote the source here, because that would only embarrass the person who posted it.  This person thought she was promoting her husband in her kids’ and grandkids’ eyes by telling them he was “Superman”.

Women Rule The World

A guest post by Ryan M. Rivera, who requested to share this piece with you.

Gone are the days when women’s role is limited to being a homemaker. Thanks to the brave people who pioneered the waves of feminist movements in the past decades, women have attained great empowerment, and they are now given respect and proper treatment. Gone are the days when women are inferior to men. Now, equal rights are given to both sexes. One is neither dominant nor inferior to the other.
