One Bold Move a Day On Its Way

Sorry for the delay in awarding the free copy of “One Bold Move a Day”.  But, as you know, I had a medical setback and spent too much time in the hospital.

One Bold Move a Day

First, let’s review Shanna’s book.  She developed the manuscript using her more than two decades of leadership experience.  Among the non-profit entities she led were major units of the University of Alabama, the Alabama March of Dimes, Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania), and the Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania.

The first major premise underlying the tome is the power a bold move provides your life.  An intentional act that is aimed at fulfilling your potential means you have abandoned your comfort zone; that act of courage helps you progress on your journey, the plan for professional and personal growth.

As you do so, you must recognize that big impacts result from  even small actions.  No grand gestures are needed to achieve the success you desire.  So, voice your opinion in that meeting, take the initiative to interact with others, even negotiating your desired salary helps you manifest the desired growth.

Superpower cape

And, there is no need for a cape- you have superpowers within you. Those are your unique strengths, these set you apart from others and enable your ability to achieve significant results.

You don’t think you have those superpowers?   Consider the compliments that normally come you way, situations in which others seek your advice and counsel… these are the superpower skills that require little extra effort.  You can leverage them to promote your effectiveness and achieve the remarkable results you want to develop.

In her book, Shanna has categorized these bold moves into four separate mindsets:  Gratitude, Duality, Happiness, and  Progress.  Gratitude promotes the shift from what you feel you lack to what you have.  This powerful attitude assures you can relish the joy and appreciate the here and now.  Duality means we must recognize that either/or is not the proper world view, instead, we must develop solutions and actions that bridge the different viewpoints.  Happiness reminds us that the journey is a vital component- not just the end result.  We need to be enveloped in the fulfillment and the elation that comes as we pursue and realize our goals. And, then, we must remember that regardless of how small a change we made, we are making progress and that means we celebrate the changes we’ve effected. This promotes our abilities to make more bold moves to propel us forward.

And, now the awardee.

Alana Mautone near Birminghamton, NY.  Congratulations, Alana.  Enjoy the book.

  2. I was wondering if you ever considered changing the layout of your blog?
Its very well written; I love what youve got to
say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect
with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for
only having 1 or two pictures. Maybe you could space it out better?

    1. I happen to like the space. But, most of my blogs involve items that are generally not associated with pictures, which is yet another issue.
Thanks for the suggestion, though. I will keep it in mind when the subject matter does have a wide variety of illustrations and pictures available.
