Yes, I am a techie.
But, I know that innovation doesn’t only get introduced from a research lab or a design studio. After all, I invented my artificial kidney in my basement. Colon lavage via a thought experiment. The concept for a neurosurgical drill during a midnight reverie. And, so on.
The trick is to tune our minds to see ideas and concepts as we peruse the world, our friends, and our activities. What do we see that needs a solution? Then, spend time, brainstorm potential responses- and make sure you have pen and paper or digital device to record your thoughts. So you can build on them with time.
What we really want to develop is a disruptor- something that will change the landscape dramatically. Often that means producing a minimally viable product or prototype. (And, don’t go overboard on costs, since this is but the first step of many). But, this will give us something to examine in light of the issues- and even to show others for their comments. (NOTE: It’s probably a good idea to file a provisional patent application with the US Patent and Trademark Office to give us a year to perfect the concept.
Now, it’s time to bring the idea to market. Is that by ourselves? Or, do we attempt to license it to an entity more capable to develop its full business potential?
I’m looking forward to learning of your new ideas. (Don’t forget we have the ability to help you prototype, produce, hone, and even assist you with licensing the concept to another.)
I wish I had some ideas to offer. I think my innovation will be in the literary realm. But if I come up with something, I will definitely let you know.
The literary realm! That sounds great.
Thank you for asking. I see transportation as a huge problem. Basically, I’m really tired of our car culture that creates so many transportation nightmares for me. I’d like to see something that could transport people better, more efficiently, and that doesn’t require people to own expensive machines. For example, hyperloop trains, moving sidewalks, suspension railways, gondolas, maglev, bicycle built for ten or more, etc.
Why is our public transportation so backwards when we could make it fun and accessible for everyone? It’s not right that people are left behind because of lack of transportation
YOu need to flesh out those ideas and come up with a solution- not an aspiration, Alice. Looking forward to seeing it come about.
Thinking out of the box and innovating can go a long way in changing how we work .Will definitely keep your offered services in mind.
Thanks, Dr. A!
My son’s Godfather is always thinking about “things that the world needs and that he could be inventing”. He still has a day job 😉
You developed an artificial kidney? That sounds totally like something many people would need, and it’s super impressive, too! What stage is that project at?
My kidney innovations have long been implemented. Thankfully!
I am honored to know you and all you have invented. Way back in the 70’s I made jockey silks. My neighbor owned race horse and needed new silks. I made a few from ripstock nylon but then came up with the idea of using lycra spandex. It was a hit but I didn’t think anything of it. Within a few years this was used by so many and I’m sure it was patented. Oh well, I lost my bit of fame. LOL No Lia may be the one to come up with something, she is so inquisitive and loves “inventing” things.
Yes. I am looking forward to seeing what Lia finds worth developing.
