Hypocrisy

Ah, yes, hypocrisy.

It has become the basic tenet of one of our political parties.

Today (not the day you are reading this, of course) is a day in point.

It Takes a Village

I am sure you can recall how the GOP and the Murdock machine (Fox and the Wall Street Journal) viciously attacked Hilary Clinton for her “It takes a Village” statement.

Now, let me make perfectly clear that I am NOT a fan of Hilary.  Oh sure, compared to the racist dog whisperer, TheDonald, I’d vote for her.  But, in any normal campaign, ‘not her’ is my primary choice.

You didn't build that

Or, how the GOP and Murdock attacked Barack Obama when he declared “You didn’t build that”.  Describing that business relies on government financing to build roads, grant rights of way, and infrastructure to let business thrive.

Benghazi Hearings

Not to mention the years long inquest into Benghazi (33 hearings, $ 7 million of government funds), trying to blame the entire event on Hilary Clinton.  Finding nary an iota of evidence.

January 6th Hearings

But, when it came time to investigate TheDonald’s attempt at insurrection (along with the help from Congressman Jim Jordan and Senator Josh Hawley [among many others]), the GOP slithered under the earth, claiming there was no there there.  Despite almost every one of them (including almost every WrongWing Fox personality- including Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham) sending tweets, eMails, and phone calls to TheDonald and his right hand crony Mark Meadows asking them to stop the insurrection.

(By the way, more than 700 folks have been corralled from that insurrection.  But, the big-wigs, the ones who promoted and conceived it- folks like TheDonald, Mark Meadows, Jim Jordan, Josh Hawley, Alex Jones, Caroline Wren will probably never hear the hammer of justice come down upon them.)

So, why was I surprised when I read the Wall Street Journal to see the following ½ page ad.  It repeated for most of the next week.

Success is Not a Solo Venture

Yup, it does take a village.  Plus, you didn’t build that.  And, we must stop further insurrections against our democracy.

  1. It takes a village to stop what is happening but it seems to me that much of the part of the village that should really care isn’t paying attention, or isn’t believing that what it is seeing is “that bad”. I am convinced, as many other people are, that January 6 was a warmup and next time (yes, there will be a next time because we are letting it build up) may have a different ending if we don’t wake up.
