We have a slew of clients who are running a lifestyle business. They like to be known as solopreneurs, but with annual turnovers less than $ 50,000, creating a formal business enterprise is not in the cards- because the return on investment would be too low. (We do have a bunch who clearly want to have at least $ 50,000 BELOW the line- those clearly need more formal structures.)

QBI gets ‘formified’
Qualified Business Income.
I’ve written about this before. Most recently this past June. So, why am I writing about this again?
9 Nights Away
Well, given the inanity in Washington, I thought today would be a good day to discuss one of the craziest delusions of the bunch-paraskevidekatriaphobia and it’s related delusion- triskadekaphobia. What are these? Fear of Friday the 13th and of the number 13, in general.
Coupled?
So, many of you may recall, that my youngest son married the love of his life a few weeks ago. Which means my children all have found (and the oldest ones maintained) a loving relationship for a long time.
Bugs to the rescue?
This is going to be a story about what happens when we develop a creative solution to a problem- only to find out that the problem we were solving is now moot. Not because another solution developed, but because the issue is no longer. (Please note- as you will see later- the problem didn’t get corrected; no, the problem went away because extinction occurred first.)
Not quite ubiquitous
I’m sure most of you know that Israel has been leading the world in water conservation and reuse for decades. (You do read my blog, right? Here’s but one example.)
To the rescue- and it’s not mighty mouse
Not exactly the news for which we hoped.
Most of us know in our bones that stem cells can provide a great deal of benefit for us. Whether we grow those stem cells to create new kidneys or new hearts to deal with our ailing folks or use stem cells to create new skin for those who have suffered terrible burns, we look forward to the day that stem cell research will be fully allowed.
Baby Boomers go Bust!
My generation.
No, despite sharing the video above, I am not really reliving one of my favorite tunes from The Who.
Related Syndromes
I have written many times about this. (Here’s one of my first hints.) And, many folks looked askance or made negative comments. But, for those who know me, that didn’t mean I would back down on my scientific hunch. Now, there’s data to substantiate what I felt in my bones.

I’ve written how we often discovered antibiotics. Simple. By sampling mud, ponds, habitats where microbes thrive and try to find the one strain that inhibits the growth of other microbes. Not a very efficient process- and one that provides less benefit now that we’ve discovered a slew of microbes. We just can’t seem to find a new one that works, to bolster our arsenal against disease.
