National Small Business Week

This week has been designated as National Small Business Week.  It would be optimum if the government agencies really tried to make it easier and better for small businesses to thrive in America.  Instead of focusing their beneficence on megafirms.  But, I digress.

You know the general rules of thumb about small business.  Small business is the heartbeat of America.  Small business generates most of the new jobs in America,   And, that’s generally true.

7 Steps involved in Small Business Success

But, despite the fact that the government generally favors big business, if the SBA (Small Business Administration) is going to offer free registration to a virtual conference that may help us do what we do better, why wouldn’t we register and learn?

Here’s the registration site.  Remember, this conference runs tomorrow and Wednesday.

One of the first topics the conference will cover is the US Economic Outlook and its affect on small business success. While most of this data is available elsewhere (including my blog site), it can’t hurt to see what new information the US government is willing to share about this subject.

Of course, the SBA will also have a session to explain the various programs the SBA offers to provide funding for smaller businesses.

A sponsored session helping us to discern how to driver growth via our culture will be offered as well. The goal is to segment our customer responses and thereby drive our business growth.

To help us navigate the internet marketplace, there’ll be a session on how to create online advertising. Another session will deal with online marketing, with checklists and processes to get our names active across the marketplace.

Cash flow is the lifeblood for all businesses- but it is even more important to the smaller enterprises. So, this session about cash flow for small biz should attract a fair amount of attention.

And, since no matter how well we plan, things can go wrong, the SBA will talk about what happens when disaster hits- how to prepare for the situation and how to recover from it.

The last session of the conference will address how one can do business with the US government.

  1. I prefer shopping at small businesses, even when it comes to farmers markets, they top my list to major grocery stores.
