We all have heard (or read) how middle class wealth has been devastated over the past quarter century. Even now, as the economy seems to be perking up, it’s only the very wealthy that are seeing those gains. Mostly because the stock market is way up (interest rates are so low, it’s the only place for the wealthy and the retired to park their funds)- and housing has still not recovered (which is where the bulk of middle class wealth is found) to those pre-2009 levels.
I am always amazed (annoyed?) at the innumeracy of the American (ok, the world’s) populace. It’s one of the ways polemicists can convince folks of certain “facts”– even when there is no logic behind their words.
It’s amazing what can happen when a corporation has a slew of professionals that do nothing but make sure that their tax bill is very low- zero would be ideal. Oh, I know, we all want to pay the lowest amount of taxes- but companies like GE have managed to pay no taxes, in spite of their profits.
My house is replete with art. Mostly paintings, but sculpture and crafts are also present. My dining room affords one with the beauty to augment the conversation and tasty morsels with which I- and my guests- enjoy the evening.
Yesterday, we talked about individual income tax filing. Today, we will discuss the forms businesses, trusts, estates, and partnerships must file.
Are you planning to file your taxes yourself? If you are single, an employee, and don’t own a home- then I agree, that’s a great thing to do. Once any of these attributes change, then there a great deal of options available to you that will let you save money. And, that’s where talented folks like our staff actually save you more money than you would pay us to determine the lowest taxes you ar legally required to pay.
We had a good week. One we deserved. We lost two of our clients last year- one to death and the other to the retirement of the principal. One was expected, the other was devastating. I’ve written about one of them already.
I was blessed with a visit from my eldest (daughter), her husband, and my grandson. It’s amazing to see the innocence, the insouciance, the love, and energy that this almost 4 year old has- and how he infects his parents with his essence. It made my home resonate.
It’s that time of year again. No, I don’t mean the aggravation (or glee, in my case) of completing one’s (or all of your!) tax returns. No, I mean completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Don’t let the name fool you- almost every institution of higher learning demands its completion, as a determinant in the awarding of financial aid.
