Having worked with water resources and reuse for years, I recall with (feigned) affection some of the terms used. In particular, water resources in the US are measured in acre-feet. Oh, I know, that is the amount of water needed to flood an acre of land with a foot of water.

Friday,(link here) I discussed a slew of SCOTUS (Supreme Court of the United States) decisions afforded us by the Roberts’ Court- the most pro-business (read “Big Business”) Supreme Court ever. Well, here is a case they just decided, that small businesses can overturn without going to court- by using public opinion against one specific Big Business.

Surprise! You’re Sharing!
Truth is stranger than fiction. Especially, when we are talking about how banks (you know, the industry that basically tanked four years ago and you and I bailed them out, only to have them stab us in the back) are putting the screws to their customers. No, I am not going to talk about some new fee, how they change their policies willy-nilly to cost us money. Nope! I am going to explain how the banks save money- and put us at risk.
It’s moving along…Obamacare, that is.
With all the hoopla about Obamacare (PPACA is its real acronym), one would think that it would be a total failure. But, even as a certain party keeps sniping at it, cutting funding, it’s making a difference in our health care.
Have Sales- Will Tax
If you think it’s just the federal government that is scrambling for revenue to cut their deficits, you are badly mistaken, Almost every single state is desperate to increase the tax coffers to balance budgets and/or deal with immediate needs- including transportation needs. And, one source they are desperate to tax is internet sales. Some $ 23 billion a year escapes state coffers (National Conference of State Legislature estimates) because of the 1992 Supreme Court ruling that currently obtains.

Years ago, we found multiple uses for a microbe that we had been manufacturing. It would increase the amount of synthetic snow, so less refrigeration power was needed to “powder the slopes”. The same microbe, when injected into Elm trees arrested a disease that was devouring the entire population. Unfortunately, by the time we were done with our studies, there weren’t enough trees left to support a commercial product.
